//
Who said that to have a healthy and glowing skin you're forced to have an empty wallet ?
I'd much rather seek to empty the pantry.
There is nothing better than a super hydrating face mask , rich and natural .. and especially at almost zero cost , and fun to prepare. Wether you're expecting a sleepover with the girls , or a night-in that you don't know how to engage , a nice homemade mask is just the thing for you. The ingredients ?
- Half (or even less) a Banana .
- A teaspoon of honey .
Yes, in addition to being the only fruit of love , The banana also has remarkable moisturizing properties that make it perfect for a beauty mask : the high concentration of potassium, beta-carotene and vitamin B. Potassium , for example , has high power diuretic, which is why useful to absorb the puffy eyes( for example when you wake up ) . Beta-carotene instead , hinders the free radicals , keeping younger cells and making the skin smooth and soft. Almost like a filler.
Add to these properties the effect of super-hydrating honey, and boom .

Step 1: Gather the hair and remove makeup !

  4. Avete provato a fare questa maschera? Notato una differenza nella vostra pelle? E' stato divertente?
  5. Let me know :) Grazie per aver letto, e Have Fun! x

Bioderma Solution Micellaire Review | Worth the Hype?

It is not my fault: when a product / book / movie / trend is on everyone's lips , it is precisely the time when it doesn't end up in my hands . I wait for the storm to end , for the dust to rest on the bottom and then, i finally try it to see if underneath the smoke there's also a bit of roast.
This has also happened for this product, that for years now has been featured and loved in every blooming respecting blog. This is Bioderma Solution Micellaire. It has become the iconic product of this French dermatology home , to such an extent that to talk about the wonders of this Water, beauty addicted just say ' Bioderma ' ( a perfect example of Metonymy I'd say ) .
It is an emulsion of water and Micelles or micro particles able to ' roll ' on the skin and remove in a single gesture Make Up and residues of atmospheric pollution , leaving the skin clean thoroughly, cleansed and soothed . And it's also particularly suitable for sensitive skin. Also it's not yet been possible to find a single woman on this earth who admitted (even under torture ) that this product has irritated their eyes or skin. The product is also completely free of colorings and fragrances. In short , it's water.
I defy anyone to find the difference between a cotton pad soaked in tap water, and one soaked in Bioderma. The only difference is that the latter will really be able to cleanse your face, without greasing it or feeling heavy. The only flaw would be to fail to fully dissolve eyeliner and mascara. Thus ,compulsive lovers of Smokey Eyes , you are warned .
It 's really a great product, maybe not to praise , but certainly worth a try .
If you are not very sure,do what I did : Take the Travel Size! It costs less , but it's just fine to get an idea . And now , the votes !

Cheap -But Still Chic | The Drugstore Essentials

 Ladies and Gentlemen, vi presento:

  • Rimmel Stay Matte long lasting pressed powder.
  • NYC Color Wheel mosaic face powder. More information to follow.
  • Maybelline FIT me concealer. Last but not least, abbiamo un altro correttore. Top of the charts.

When it comes to buying Make Up, i'm always at the forefront.
Especially if it is to seek out products under 10 £, which are worth at least twice as much in terms of quality. That's what today's post is about. I'm talking about this four gems very easy to find, very easy to buy -thanks to the very affordable price tag, and that will give you a perfect makeup base, with minimal effort, and with your wallet still intact.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce you:

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder . This wonderful product is certainly not a newcomer to the Beauty Olympus. However, you just can not make a post like this without including this miraculous powder , which can fix your foundation \ concealer \ greasepaint \ whatever eliminating any trace of oiliness , making it indestructible and without looking at all cakey. It came out in many colors , like all powders, but I prefer to use the 001 Transparent ,to make no mistake . The price range variates from £ 6-10 , depending on the store. 10/10 , first of the class.
  • NYC Color Wheel Mosaic face powder . If like me you're an habituées of the drugstore , you have definitely been intrigued by this brand -NYC .Interesting Products  , but what is striking is the very low prices. To trust or not to trust ? the answer is only one: to try everything. Thus, for the purpose of research .. for humanity. Ok . Among all the different colors of the ' mosaic ' range',  I have chosen the Translucent Highlighter Glow , which is a transparen and illuminating powder . Price: less than £4 . So far so good. More information to follow .
  • Rimmel Match Perfection 2in1 concealer and highlighter. if your stay on my blog has been consistent from the beginning , now you know that I have a weakness for Rimmel . Virtually everything they produce, ends up among my favorites . What I have here is a spell of wonders if you  -like me- do not have big problems with dark circles , and you love the look ' panda in white, ' with a very clear and illuminating concealer. The color I use is 010 True Ivory , and is so creamy and moisturizing , easy to blend. Doesn't crease at all . A dream - which costs about £ 6.00 .
  • Maybelline Fit Me concealer . Last but not least , we have another concealer. This bad boy over the last period has been over on the mouth ( and eyes ) of all , for impersonating the impersonator of famous - and - not so affordable- Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer . Let's face it , the packaging is quite the same, and surprisingly also the effect. Very moisturizing, easy to blend and surprisingly pigmented . Again, around  £6.00 ( £20.00 more than the Nars , ahem)it  is worth a try.Top of the charts.

KIKO CONCEALERS MASTERCLASS

Today we're starting my new KIKO series.
The first topic we're gonna discuss is Concealer. I'm a hudge concealer lover. Even when i'm not wearing make up, concealer is something i always wear; it was also one of the first make up items i ever bought, along with blusher. It really is that little something that's able to change your face from a tenner to a million dollars. During the last few years i've been able to try a lot of concealers, as i don't like repurchasing the same one over and over. I like to jazz things up a bit and experiment. I live life on the edge, i know.
Back to the point, KIKO offers many different formulas and texture concealers. I've tried all of them, and one i'm also using at the moment. But we'll get there later.

  • Natural Concealer; let's start with a classic. This little tube contains a very liquidy concealer, with a creamy texture and a luminous finish. The packaging is your boxstandard one. The color range is quite good, and also includes a green-ish number to cover up any blemishes and red spots. It's light to medium coverage and hipoallergenic\ Parabene Free. It's very cheap: £ 5.50.  I'll give this 8\10.

  • Skin Evolution Concealer: This little boy is the newest member of the KIKO range. It's a stick corrector with a creamy consistency and a matte finish. It's a high coverage foundation and lasts a long time -it's heat, water and humidity resistant.  The color range of this is amazing, from the palest skin to the darkest skin color -actually has been tested on multiple types of complexion. Hypoallergenic-Parabene free. The pricing is the same as the previous one. I advice using this on spots and to conceal areas of the face instead of using it under your eyes, as the rich consistancy makes it crease quite alot. Also be carefull to pick the right color, as they can turn out looking a bit orangy. It's £ 5.50. Despite the good idea, i'm gonna give this product a 6\10.
  • Colour Correction Concealer Wheel: This product can be quite tempting to buy at first sight. The packaging is lovely and professional looking, and contains 5 shades (ok, i'm not gonna comment on there) of correctors: A green for blemishes+ a purple for dull skintypes+ Creamy Highlighter + Beige concealer + Dark brown concealer.Although the colors could seem quite intimidating in the palette, i promess they're gonna suit almost everyone once blended. I like the formula, quite mousse-ish and very natural once blended. I think for the price - £12.00- it's definitely worth a try. I'll give this 8\10.

  • Soft Focus Concealer: And here we have another dupe for the ever so famous YSL Touche Eclat stick. In my opinion, this is a very nice cheap alternative. The packaging is absolutely identical, apart from the fact that it's silver instead of gold, and the product is very similar too: it has a very light creamy consistency with tiny sparkles and it's extreamely moisturising. Out of all the KIKo range this is my favourute under-eye concealer. The only problem you may find with this is that it provides a light coverage, so it's not for you if you suffer from very accentuate dark undereyes. You can still buy this and use it to highlight the rest of your face, like cheekbones, upper lip, bridge of the nose etc. The color range is quite small though, consisting in only 4 shades. It is £7.50. Although the packaging is not always working perfectly, i'll give this 9/10. i love it.
  • Full Coverage Concealer: This is the concealer i'm using at the moment, and a product i keep repurchasing. I always come back to this super high coverage number. Its formula is creamy and rich, and could seem a bit oily at first: just a quick note -i only use this on my face, as a corrector, it's way too oily and heavy for undereyes purposes and it creases even after pressed powder. It's great on the rest of the face tho, and once you powder your face, it stays put all day. I like to apply it after my foundation and with the same sponge (or a brush) on the bridge of my nose, the sides of my nose, upper lip, and chin to even out my complexion a bit and also to highlight a bit, as i use the lighter shade, number 001. The price of this is £7.50.Maybe a great dupe for the Bobby Brown corrector..? Definitely give this one a go. I'll give this 9/10.      (i'm including my picture only for this one because that's the only one i'm currently using. )

That is it for today Guys.
Regular blogging will resume tomorrow, and then there'll be another KIKO related post.
Hope you liked it, i'd love to hear your feedback.
Thanks so much, Byee x

The Lipstick Tag | The Italian Chick

I decided to do the lipstick tag after seeing Tori from aztecmess do it on her blog! I thought i'd be fun.
Let's get cracking.

1. How many lipsticks do you own?
About 25-ish. I'm a good girl.

2. What was the first lipstick you owned?
When I was 15 I bought a bright red lipstick. I wore it as a part of a 20's costume for a show of the theater company where I sang. I still have it.

3. What is your favourite lipstick brand?
I'm gonna pick two, a drugstore and a pricy option.
Drugstore wise, i'm gonna go for Rimmel, especially the Kate Moss range.
And then, obviously, Mac for the incredible offer.

4. What is your most worn lipstick?
I guess one of the  Luscious Cream - Creamy Lipstick from kiko in an orange color.
I guess is a good Morange dupe.

5. What is your favourite finish?
I absolutely love matte finish. However it has to be creamy, moisturising and long lasting.

6. What was the last lipstick you bought?
Surprise! is Kiko again. This time is Ultra Glossy Stylo spf 15 in a gorgeous mauve colour.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?
I'm amazed. Just two! I'm so tidy.. ehm.
For the record, i have Maybelline Baby lips in Cherry me and Clinique Chubby Stick in mega melon.

8. What is your favourite red lip colour?
Mac Russian Red and Rimmel Kate Moss number 1.
Predictable.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?
Oh that's an interesting question. I always change my make up storage (a little bit OCD, yes), but at the moment they are all inside a cute pink square box that used to contain a present. Thrifty.

10. Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?
Ohh so many.
I guess Mac rebel, YSL lip laquer in the plummy shade, Nars Velvety lip pencils..
ahh so many wishes, so little money.

And that's it for today! I tag everyone that wants to have a bit of fun with this tag.
Thanks so much for reading, i'll talk to you soon.
Bye! Meg x

The Nail Pick | The Italian Chick

It's that time of the week again. Your red nailpolish has almost compleately vanished. It's all chipped, and looking miserable. Time for a change, simple as that. Well, actually not so simple if you -like me- belong to the category of the morbid nail laquer shopper, and own a massive collection. Firts step is picking a color category. This time i'm gone all vampy with a darken selection, with a special and bright guest star.
From left to right:
New York Color in Midtown Mink, a deep dark maroon color.
Chanel le Vernis in Paradoxal, a mud brown with a purply undertone and tiny purple shimmers
KIKO in number 816, a very intense muddy-grey-ish colour. (great vocabulary there)
Essie in Trophy Wife, a deep Teal pearl polish suitable for both summer and spring.
KIKO number 303. I guess this one is hard to see on the nails in the picture, but you can get a close idea from the look it has in the bottle. If you want to use this platinum-glittery polish by its own, you'll need to go a bit coats wild. You'll need almost four of them. If you don't wanna overpack your nails, you can help the polish stand out better with a color underneath. The kiko muddy one is perf.

And that's it for today. I really should make up my mind an finally pick a color. Or else i can rock the 'all-different-nail' look. As you do. Thanks so much for reading, and i'll speak to you soon! Bye, meg x

Winter Florals OOTD & Matte Topcoat | The Italian Chick

From head to toe:
Red daisy dress: Primark
Soft and Cosy Tights: Primark
White Socks: H&M
Heeled Chelsea Boots: Pimkie
Earrings: Kukee online shop
Rings: Vintage
Nails: KIKO 825
Lips: MAC Ruby Woo

As you can probably tell by the rubbish lighting in the outdoor pictures, today has been a massively rainy day. I thought i'd brighten things up with a colorful dress. This one in particular, I absolutely love because even though the background color is pretty vibrant, the black and white print makes it all more refined and suitable for winter as well. I paired with my red outfit a red lip,and red nails. To jazz up things a bit, i've decided to use a matte top coat from H&M. This one in particular is pretty cheap, and does a brilliant job. I find that Matte top coats are a great alternative to fancy nail arts whenever you want to wear something different on your nails, without the struggle.

-
And that's it for today! As usual i really hope you enjoyed.  Let me know if you have any request, tips or advice to make this blog the best blog ever. Thanks very much, i'll talk to ya soon! Meg x

KINDA SMART, BUT NOT QUITE | OOTD by THE ITALIAN CHICK

From Head to Toe:
Blazer: Mango
Distressed Leggings: H&M
Boots: Dr Martens
Shoulder Bag: H&M
Triangle Earrings: Pimkie
Lipstick: Rimmel Kate Moss
Nail Polish: NYC Midtown Mink

I guess i really like this whole OTTD process. I've always been a fan of homemade photoshoots and this activity also provides a valid excuse to shop more clothes. It also seems that you like this kind of post the better, since last ottd was my most popular post ever, in just a couple of days -a massive thank you!
To keep it a bit more beauty related, this time i've decided to feature one of my all time favourite lipstick. I thought the hot pink added that 'something' to this very smart and monochrome look. This is Kate Moss for Rimmel in number 20, and it does is the best hot pink lipstick you can possibly ask for.
It leaves your lips moisturised, but also provides a super matte and intense layer of color after only one coat. I don't personally feel like i need to line my lips with a lipliner before, as it doesn't particularly smudge at all. It's also very easy to find in any local drugstore, and the price is so very affordable. Brilliant.

-

So as usual, i really hope you liked this post, at least as much as i loved doing it.
If you guys want, just let me know what would you like to see on this blog in 2014, as i'd love to do more OTTDs but also to keep it quite beauty-ish and keep reviewing and writing usefull tips for you.
Thank so much for the feedback under last week's post, it really made me happy happy.
Have a nice day, and i'll talk to ya soon! Meg x

Bedtime Skincare Routine | The Italian Chick

Hello and Happy New Year to you all!
Today's post is made for all of those who spent the last couple of weeks eating, partying and going to sleep at 4 a.m. without even removing -full on glitter smokey eyes- makeup before bed. Yes, you're right. This is especially made for you reading. After all these festivities, i bet you're feeling tired, unhealthy and also a bit guilty. There's no need to be. partying is nice and so much fun.
The most important thing is to learn how to handle the hangover.
So today i'm gonna tell you how i take care of my poor, tired skin after all the previous jazz, with special reference to that time of the day where we all slow down, relax after a stressful day and take a moment to treat ourself: Bedtime.

From Left to right:
  • First Step, is removing makeup. Having a clean skin is essential to avoid bad brakeouts and impurities. To provide clean skin, i picked up three products. Don't worry, they're all pretty easy to find, and drugstore-proof. First is the Dermolab cleansing moisturising oil. As you can see, this is a very well loved (and used) product of mine. This purple number is very easy to use, and provides a deep, yet delicate performance: you need to dot a few dots on your fingertips, and massage it on dry skin,  where you have make up. Then, with wet hands, start creating a very delicate foam, and rinse with warm water. This is great if your skin is dry to very dry. Next, is the classic eye-makeup remover: It's the Garnier Sensitive Essential Delicate Cleansing Milk. This milk is perfect for sensitive skin, as it's alchool, colour and scent free. Just Apply it on a cotton pad, and gently remove any make up residues. Lastly, another cleanser. I am a firm believer in Double Cleansing. First step, is to remove make up. Then we need another to remove pollution and impurities. This is also the moment where you can add a daily exfoliator, for extra cleansing. Instead, i picked a more gentle mousse-soap: the Garnier Fresh Essential: this is very delicate yet provides a deep clean, and leaves your skin feeling clean and extreamely fresh. I use this both when i wake up and when i go to sleep.
  • Next, -what a surprise!- we have a face mask. I've already expressed my deep love for face masks, especially H&M ones (like the one in the picture, in particular this is the Cocont Water Moisture Mask) on this blog. You can find more info Here: http://teadropscorner.blogspot.it/2013/12/h-face-masks-collective-review-italian.html

  • After removing the mask, it is time to moisturise the skin. My current favourite night moisturiser is from Lush. It's called Charity Pot,and its made with Fair Trade organic cocoa butter, moisturizing almond oil and  ylang ylang. It's just so rich and makes your skin look nourished and extreamely soft.
  • Let's take care of our lips now. During the colder months, it is very good to exfoliate them with a gentle Lip Scrub, in order to remove any dry patches, and leave them soft and hydrated. The one i'm currently loving is from Lush's festive collection, so limited edition. It's called Santa's Lip Scrub. They also have permanent ones. Honestly, they're the best, but if you wanna save yourself a little money, just made your own with honey and caster sugar. After that, you're gonna wanna apply a very nice moisturising lip balm. Just pick your favourite, mine is from Sephora.
  • And finally. Let's not forget to treat our hands. After being mistreated all day out in the cold, it's only fair that we take a moment to apply a nice Hand Cream. Again, there's plenty of choice, form high end to drugstore to organic ones. Mine is from the pharmacy, and it's the Vichy Essentielles hand Cream. I love this so much, i guess i'm already on my third tube, and it's quickly running out. It's very very delicate, yet it works. And smells like roses. wow.
--
And that's it for today! I really hope you guys found it useful! As always thank you so much for all your support, and let me know if you've done this routine yourself. Again, have an happy and safe 2014!
Lots of love, Meg x
